Windspiel Premium Dry Caxambu Coffee Gin. Potato-based coffee gin with Arabica distillate, nutty and caramel, 47% ABV.
Windspiel Premium Dry Caxambu Coffee Gin is a potato-based coffee gin from the Volcanic Eifel: juniper berries, coriander, lemon, lavender, and cinnamon bark meet a distillate of light-roasted Arabica coffee, 47% ABV, 500 ml. Nutty, caramel, smooth.
Caxambu Coffee Gin from Windspiel combines two worlds of indulgence in one bottle: potato-based Windspiel Gin and coffee from Brazil. It was created in collaboration with the Daun Coffee Roastery. Both manufacturers share the value of sustainability and responsible use of natural resources, and both had the same vision: a coffee gin. Windspiel produces the coffee distillate itself and blends it with the gin. The coffee distillate gives the gin its character, while the juniper and classic botanicals remain present.
Nutty and caramel, with notes of coffee and juniper
The Caxambu Coffee Gin tastes spicy, caramelly, and nutty, with an intense, smooth coffee note over the juniper.
Windspiel describes the result as an exciting and stimulating taste experience. According to the manufacturer, the coffee note is intense yet smooth, and it pairs surprisingly well with the juniper berries. This is due to the light, low-acidity "Caxambu Mild" roast: caramel-like and gentle, it harmonizes with the typical gin aromas. Added to this are the classic botanicals coriander, lemon, lavender, and cinnamon bark. This novelty with an authentic coffee flavor also stands on its own.
Neat, on ice, or as a long drink: Coffee gin with orange zest
Caxambu Coffee Gin is suitable served neat, on ice, and as a long drink; Windspiel also notes that it is suitable for cocktails.
When served neat, you taste the roast most clearly: 4 cl in a nosing glass or over a large ice cube, accompanied by an orange zest expressed over the glass. For a long drink, add 4 cl of gin to 12 cl of tonic water with plenty of ice. In a Negroni, it replaces the gin in equal parts: 3 cl each of gin, bitter, and red vermouth. After a meal, a small glass served neat pairs perfectly with dark chocolate or a piece of nut cake. This coffee gin is a spirit with 47% ABV and is only sold to adults 18 years and older.
Our tip: Do not chill the gin; instead, drink it at room temperature. This allows the caramel note to shine most clearly.
Potatoes from the Eifel, coffee from Brazil
The gin has two origins: potato alcohol from the Volcanic Eifel and coffee from Fazenda Caxambu in Sul de Minas, Brazil.
Windspiel is a distillery in Berlingen near Daun, founded in 2014 by Sandra Wimmeler and Denis Lönnendonker. The gins are based on potato alcohol rather than grain, with the potatoes grown on their own farm in the mineral-rich volcanic soils of the Eifel. Distillation takes place in Germany, and the distillery relies on solar power.
The coffee comes from Fazenda Caxambu, owned by Carmem Lucia Chaves de Brito in Sul de Minas, a partner plantation of the Daun Coffee Roastery. According to Windspiel, it produces full-bodied, very smooth, and nutty coffees through high social engagement and sustainable cultivation. The Catuaí Arabica variety is grown on a high-altitude plot and is specifically cultivated, harvested, and processed for the Daun Coffee Roastery.
