Kakuzo: Tea meets spirit

Kakuzo comes from Berlin and is the brainchild of two friends, Paul and Marc, who are familiar with the city's bar scene and have traveled through Asia. Bartenders in Berlin bars have long been infusing spirits with tea – according to the manufacturer, Kakuzo brings this infusion ready-made to the bottle. The recipe was created in 2017 after experiments in their own bathtub; the name commemorates Okakura Kakuzō, who introduced Japanese tea culture to the West in 1906 with "The Book of Tea." The labels are adorned with kitsune, tengu, koi, and dragons.

Tea Infused Vodka and Organic Dry Gin

The Tea Infused Vodka is a five-times-filtered vodka with a tea blend of Sencha, Keemun, and Assam – spicy, slightly malty, with honey and citrus, 40% ABV, and according to the manufacturer, also a pleasure when served warm. The Organic Dry Gin is certified organic and combines juniper, coriander, and lemongrass with Satsuma mandarin, yuzu, grapefruit, and the Kakuzo tea blend, 44% ABV.

Yuzu Gin Liqueur and Cherry Bitter

The Yuzu Gin Liqueur combines gin with yuzu and mandarin – delicate acidity, mild sweetness, light bitter note, 20% ABV, served over ice or as a Yuzu Tonic. The Cherry Bitter is a red, vodka-based bitter with cherry, gentian, and grapefruit, 20% ABV – for a Bitter Tonic, Spritz, or Negroni.
