Sasse Arabica Coffee Natural Liqueur. Organic coffee liqueur made from dark-roasted Arabica beans with caramel, full-bodied, 30% ABV.
Sasse Arabica Coffee Natural Liqueur is an organic coffee liqueur from the Sasse fine distillery in Schöppingen, Münsterland, part of their "Naturtalente" (Natural Talents) range. It is based on espresso made from very dark-roasted Arabica beans, rounded off with fine caramel – 30% ABV, 700 ml.
Arabica Coffee Natural Liqueur by Sasse starts with the coffee variety mentioned in its name. Arabica is the bean of the Coffea arabica plant, which grows primarily in highlands and is considered more aromatic and milder than its sibling, Robusta. According to the manufacturer, the beans for this liqueur are roasted very dark. They are used to create an espresso, and this espresso serves as the basis for the liqueur. Fine caramel rounds it out, adding a touch of sweetness. Sasse classifies it as a dessert liqueur and includes it among their "Naturtalente," the distillery’s line of natural liqueurs. Its ingredients are certified organic.
Full Arabica flavor, finished with sweet and bitter-sweet caramel
The bean takes center stage: the liqueur tastes full-bodied of Arabica, with the depth brought by a dark roast. At the finish, the caramel emerges, sweet yet slightly bitter. Sasse describes this as "sensual coffee nuances." With 30% ABV, the liqueur has enough strength to stand its ground in desserts and alongside ice cream. It is thus significantly stronger than most cream liqueurs. The sweetness remains well-integrated and never masks the roasted notes. It tastes more like a good cup of espresso with a piece of caramel on the side than coffee syrup. For anyone expecting a milky, mild coffee liqueur, this is a different, more robust style.
For tiramisu, in iced coffee, and over vanilla ice cream
Sasse recommends the liqueur primarily for sweet treats. A good splash over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and your dessert is ready. In iced coffee, it brings together roasted aromas and caramel: for this, add a splash over cold coffee, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and some whipped cream. It pairs well with tiramisu when served as an accompaniment in a small glass, and the distillery notes that it refines other sweet dishes as well. Try it with chocolate mousse or drizzled over warm chocolate cake. The liqueur is 30% ABV; sale is restricted to persons aged 18 and over.
Store the bottle upright, in a cool, dark place.
Our tip: Soak the ladyfingers for your tiramisu with espresso and a splash of Arabica Coffee liqueur. This way, the liqueur is infused directly into the dessert, and the caramel note is carried into the cream.
Organic coffee, processed in a Münsterland grain distillery
Coffee grows in the tropics; the liqueur is created in Schöppingen. The Sasse fine distillery is based on the Schöppinger Berg in Münsterland, and they centralize all production at this single location. The house is known for its "Lagerkorn," a grain spirit matured for years in casks. In addition, Sasse produces natural liqueurs using raw materials ranging from blossoms and fruits to cocoa and coffee. With the Arabica Coffee liqueur, the craftsmanship lies in the roasting and the interplay between espresso and caramel. The result is organic-certified and carries the name of the bean from which it is made. It is also available in a smaller size: the Naturtalente Miniatur Tasting Set contains it along with five other varieties, including elderflower and cocoa with nut.
For coffee lovers, dessert enthusiasts, and the perfect finish after a meal
This coffee liqueur is for you if you prefer your coffee strong and want to include it in your dessert. In the kitchen, it is a ingredient with character, and as a gift for coffee fans, it is a safe choice. After a long meal, a small glass alongside an espresso serves as an excellent replacement for a sugary dessert. If you prefer things milky and creamy, try the Paula Pumpernickel Milk Coffee Liqueur. You can find more liqueurs on our Sasse page and in the Liqueurs category. This robust dessert liqueur is not suitable as a light, summery aperitif.
