inge Ginger Liqueur 40ml. Ginger liqueur in a 4 cl sample bottle – fruity, spicy, and fresh, with citrus, vanilla, and rosemary.
inge Ginger Liqueur 40ml is the small 4 cl bottle of ginger liqueur from the inge manufactory in Munich-Giesing. It is prepared with fresh ginger, orange and lemon peels, Bourbon vanilla, and rosemary, and refined with cachaça. The alcohol content varies between 17 and 20% vol. depending on the batch.
Ginger Liqueur 40ml from inge is exactly one glass full. Four centiliters is the classic measure for a shot or a digestif, and that is exactly what this miniature bottle contains. It holds the same liqueur as the large 0.5 l bottle. The manufacturer describes it concisely and accurately as fruity, spicy, and fresh. The small bottle is intended for anyone who wants to get to know the ginger liqueur before opting for the full-sized bottle. It also works perfectly as a small gift, a treat in an advent calendar, or a little something extra in a gift basket. inge bottles the liqueur as a "Bavarian Small Batch" in limited editions. This is why the alcohol content fluctuates between 17 and 20% vol. depending on the batch.
Taste
The liqueur tastes fruity and spicy, with a fresh citrus note and a hint of herbs. First come orange and lemon, then the heat of the fresh ginger, which slowly becomes warmer. Bourbon vanilla smooths the transition, while fresh rosemary adds a herbal accent. The oak-aged cachaça, a sugarcane spirit from Brazil, gives the whole thing a smooth, slightly woody base. According to the manufacturer, inge does not use any artificial flavorings, extracts, dyes, or flavor enhancers. Anyone accustomed to liqueurs that are primarily sweet and mild will find the spiciness unusual.
Usage
The 4 cl bottle is a single serving, so you don't need a measuring glass. Drink the liqueur slightly chilled neat from a small glass or pour it over a few ice cubes. According to the manufacturer, it is also suitable as a ginger shot and for cocktails. Filled up with tonic water or ginger ale, the small bottle makes a perfect individual long drink. Poured over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it becomes a dessert.
The small size is also practical for tastings. If you are comparing different liqueurs with friends, everyone gets a little sip without needing to open a large bottle. For the kitchen, one bottle is enough to flavor a bowl of fruit salad or a portion of mousse.
Store the bottle in a cool place. Before opening, it is best to give it a quick shake, just as the manufacturer recommends for the large bottle.
Our tip: Pack the small bottle into a gift basket along with a jar of fruit spread and some good chocolate. This turns a small souvenir into a little tasting package for ginger fans.
Origin
inge was founded by Sascha Elsperger, who grew up in Munich-Giesing. He prepared his first ginger syrup in his small cafe on Watzmannstraße, and in 2021, inge celebrated its tenth anniversary. Today, the manufactory is located in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn in the district of Munich. For the liqueur, ginger and untreated citrus fruits arrive fresh at the manufactory and are processed the same day. Each ginger knob is hand-selected, and oranges and lemons are zested by hand. Bottling and labeling are also done by hand. Whatever remains of the fruit is processed into fruit spreads or donated. One recipient is the Munich association "Mammalade für Karla." They volunteer to turn it into jam and support homeless women and children with the proceeds. The manufactory generates some of its electricity with its own photovoltaic system. According to the manufacturer's ingredient list, the liqueur does not contain any of the 14 major allergens.
For whom
The small bottle is for adults who are curious about ginger liqueur and want to try it out first. It is suitable as a souvenir, a table gift at a party, or as an addition to a larger present.
