Gin de Cologne Rosé. Fruity gin with raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries, 15 botanicals, 42% ABV – handcrafted in Cologne-Ehrenfeld.
Gin de Cologne Rosé is a pink gin from Cologne: the Gin de Cologne, refined with raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries, a total of 15 botanicals, 42% ABV, 500 ml. Lime-zesty, mild, and berry-fruity, handcrafted in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. Contains colorant.
A rosé gin is a gin with berry fruit and a pink color. The Gin de Cologne Rosé shows what that looks like in the glass. It starts with the lime-zesty Gin de Cologne and adds raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. By law, every gin needs at least 37.5% ABV and must taste of juniper; the Rosé has 42% ABV. It's Saturday afternoon, the terrace is in the sun, and there is a bowl of berries on the table. The Rosé Gin Tonic gets a few of them as a garnish, and suddenly the glass looks like summer. The manufacturer calls the gin itself "a dream in rosé."
Taste: berry-fruity, mild, and summery
The manufacturer describes the Rosé as lime-zesty, mild, refreshing, and summery, complemented by a berry-fruity side. The foundation is the well-known Gin de Cologne with its citrus peels and juniper; the Rosé builds on this framework with raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. Together with the botanicals of the classic, there are 15 in total. According to the manufacturer, these include lemon, orange, and lime peels, lavender and hibiscus flowers, and juniper, plus the three berries.
The fruit is kept subtle: it accompanies the citrus gin rather than taking over. Those who like gin and tonic with a berry note will find a profile here that remains light. With 42% ABV, the gin still has enough strength to stand its ground in a long drink.
The color is a delicate rosé. The note regarding this states: contains colorant. That is part of an honest description for a colored gin.
Usage: Rosé Gin Tonic with berries, ice, and a wine glass
The manufacturer's recipe for the summer drink: 4 cl Rosé, 16 cl Mediterranean tonic water, berry garnish, three ice cubes. The ratio is 1:4, and as with every gin and tonic, the rule applies: first the ice, then the gin, then the tonic slowly along the spoon. Raspberries and a few strawberry slices work well as a garnish; a handful of blueberries floats nicely in a wine glass. A 500 ml bottle will get you about twelve drinks.
For guests, a Rosé Sparkler is worth it: pour 4 cl of Rosé into a champagne or wine glass with 10 cl of well-chilled dry sparkling wine and garnish with a raspberry. It is ready in a minute and makes more of an impression as an opening greeting at the door than a glass of water. Alternatively, mix Rosé and soda water 1:4 with a lemon slice for a lighter long drink. For a Rosé Lemonade, shake 4 cl of gin with 2 cl of lemon juice and 1 cl of sugar syrup, fill with soda, and place half a strawberry in the glass. For dessert, a splash over vanilla ice cream with berries works well: 2 cl is enough. The Rosé has 42% ABV; it is a beverage for adults aged 18 and over.
A stemmed wine glass is particularly well-suited for the Rosé because the scent of the berries gathers in the wide bowl. Use plenty of ice, because cold tonic enhances the freshness and tempers the sweetness of the fruit. Fresh berries last longer as a garnish than slices if you add them to the glass just before serving.
Our tip: Freeze a few berries in advance and use them instead of some of the ice cubes. They keep the drink cool, don't dilute it, and still taste like summer on the last sip.
Origin: the berry-flavored variant from Cologne craftsmanship
The company behind the Rosé is Cologne Spirits GmbH in Cologne, Bonner Straße 205. Abbass Khatami founded it in 2017 after working with his advertising agency for beverage brands. The gin is handcrafted in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, where the brand is at home.
The Rosé is the fruity extension of the classic: the same Gin de Cologne, refined with raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries and composed with 15 botanicals. The brand thus remains true to its line of distilling mild and refreshing spirits, while simply setting a different accent. Those who want to know how the Rosé compares to the original should try both side by side. We also offer 100 ml bottles for this purpose, which were explicitly developed as a Cologne souvenir.
For whom: berry fans, summer guests, and everyone giving gin as a gift
The Rosé is the gin for everyone who likes fruit in their glass. It is suitable for summer evenings with friends, brunch with sparkling wine, and bachelorette parties. Gin beginners who find berry aromas more familiar than juniper will also find it to their taste. As a gift, it stands out because it is pink and yet tastes like gin from Cologne. For Mother's Day, a birthday, or as a thank-you to the neighbor who watered the flowers, a pink bottle goes over well. If you are shopping for several guests, remember the note: the Rosé contains colorant. It is available as a gift-ready version in the Rosé Gift Box with 500 ml, in a gift carton with a Cologne motif.
Those who want to try it first should take the Rosé Mini with 100 ml. Those who prefer it classically lemony will find the London Dry Gin in the standard bottle. The other varieties are on the Gin de Cologne page.
The Rosé is not suitable for those looking for a tart, juniper-forward gin or those who wish to avoid colorants. If you prefer lemony-lime over berry, go for the classic.
