Gin de Cologne Gift Box 500 ml. Gin gift box with London Dry Gin from Cologne, 42% ABV – in a gift box with a Cologne motif.
Gin de Cologne Gift Box 500 ml is a gin gift box from Cologne: a 500 ml bottle of Gin de Cologne, London Dry Gin with over 12 botanicals and 42% ABV, in a gift box with a Cologne motif. Limey, zesty, mild, and refreshing, hand-distilled in Cologne-Ehrenfeld.
A gin gift box is a bottle of gin in a matching box, ready to be presented. Here, it is the large 500 ml bottle of Gin de Cologne, packaged in a gift box featuring a Cologne motif. The gin inside is a London Dry Gin: its aroma comes from the botanicals distilled during production. By law, a gin must have at least 37.5% ABV; this one is 42% ABV. This makes the box a gift with contents that will last for many evenings.
Taste: limey, zesty, mild, and deliberately not bitter
The manufacturer describes the gin as limey, zesty, mild, refreshing, and summery. It contains over 12 botanicals: lemon, orange, and lime peels, lavender and hibiscus blossoms, and juniper. The citrus side gives the gin its freshness, the juniper provides the structure, and the blossoms add a soft roundness.
The gin is deliberately not meant to be bitter. For recipients who do not drink much gin yet, this is an advantage. It is easy to drink in a Gin & Tonic. Those who previously found gin too tart will find this a great entry point.
Usage: twelve Gin & Tonics from one gift box
With 4 cl per drink, the bottle is enough for around twelve Gin & Tonics. The recipe: 4 cl gin, 16 cl tonic water, a slice of lime, and three ice cubes in a large glass, ratio 1:4. First the ice, then the gin, then slowly pour the tonic along the spoon. If you are giving the box as a gift, you can include two bottles of tonic and a lime to provide a complete set for the first evening.
If you prefer something simpler, mix a Gin Soda: 4 cl gin, 12 cl soda water, ice, and a lemon slice. For guests, a pitcher with ice and citrus slices is worth it, adding the tonic only at the table to preserve the carbonation. A Gimlet also works well: shake 5 cl gin, 2 cl fresh lime juice, and 1.5 cl sugar syrup over ice and strain into a chilled glass. The gin has 42% ABV and is a drink for those 18 and over; the box is therefore suitable for adults.
Our tip: Include a card with the recipe and mark the 1:4 ratio. This ensures the first Gin & Tonic is a success even without a measuring jigger.
Origin: Handcrafted in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, established in 2017
Cologne Spirits GmbH in Cologne, Bonner Straße 205, is behind the gin. Abbass Khatami founded the company in 2017; previously, he worked with his advertising agency for beverage brands. The gin is handcrafted in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. The gift box with the Cologne motif shows at a glance where the bottle comes from. Rosé, Orange, and the non-alcoholic Zero de Cologne complement the classic in the brand's assortment.
For whom: Gin lovers, hosts, and anyone from Cologne
The box is for people who enjoy drinking Gin & Tonics. It is also suitable for hosts looking for something mild for many guests, and for everyone who grew up in Cologne but lives elsewhere. As a gift, it is perfect for birthdays, housewarmings, or the end of the year. If you are looking for a smaller present, choose the 100 ml gift box. The bottle without the box is available as Gin de Cologne 500 ml. If you like berries, you can find the Rosé in a gift box. An overview of the assortment can be found on the Gin de Cologne page.
The box is not suitable for those who want to gift a tart, strongly juniper-forward gin or a non-alcoholic beverage. For the latter, there is the Zero de Cologne with 0.0% ABV.
