Handcrafted in Cologne-Ehrenfeld: lime-forward, zesty, mild, and refreshing.
The Gin de Cologne Mini is a London Dry Gin in a small format – a 100 ml bottle that fits in your jacket pocket or carry-on luggage. You already know what’s inside from the large bottle: a London Dry Gin whose aroma comes from botanicals distilled along with the alcohol. By law, a gin must have at least 37.5% vol and taste of juniper; this one has 42% vol. The Mini is very popular with us, and for good reason: it answers the question “Will I like this?” before you buy 500 ml. And it’s a souvenir that fits on any table.
Taste: the same mild gin, just in a smaller bottle
The manufacturer describes the taste as lime-forward, zesty, mild, and refreshing. This is achieved through more than 12 botanicals: lemon, orange, and lime peels for freshness, juniper as the backbone, and lavender and hibiscus blossoms for the floral side. The gin is intentionally not bitter, which you will notice at the first sip.
Anyone trying gin for the first time doesn’t have to struggle through a glass full of bitterness. Those familiar with many gins will find the Mini a benchmark for mild, citrus-forward varieties. With 42% vol, it has enough strength to stand out in a long drink while remaining accessible if you try it chilled and neat in a small glass.
The Mini is not a diluted version: the botanicals, recipe, and alcohol content are identical to the 500 ml bottle. You get the same gin, just in an amount that makes sense if you first want to find out if you like it.
Usage: two gin and tonics from one bottle
A 100 ml bottle is enough for two gin and tonics with 4 cl each, plus a small remainder. The ratio is 1:4: 4 cl of gin to 16 cl of tonic water, plus ice and a slice of lime. This allows you to toast with another person and immediately compare whether you prefer the gin neat or as a long drink. We put the glass in the fridge beforehand; a cold glass keeps the ice longer. If you don’t want to pour by feel, use a measuring cup: with 4 cl per drink, you have 2 cl left over after two gin and tonics, which you can taste chilled and neat to see what the tonic does to the gin and what the gin shows on its own.
If you have more than one Mini at home, you can turn it into a small tasting: Rosé Mini and Orange Mini are also available in 100 ml. Drink each variety neat at room temperature first, then as a gin and tonic, and note down which one you like better. For a fizz based on the classic, shake 4 cl of gin with 2 cl of lemon juice and 1 cl of sugar syrup over ice and top it off in the glass with soda water. A Gimlet also works twice: 5 cl of gin, 2 cl of fresh lime juice, and 1.5 cl of sugar syrup, shaken over ice and strained, yield exactly half the bottle per drink. The Mini is also suitable for a weekend away because it takes up hardly any space in your luggage. Gin is a spirit and intended only for adults 18 and older.
Our tip: For tasting, use a nosing glass or a small wine glass, hold it under your nose for a moment, and only then take a drink. The citrus and floral notes will appear in the scent even before the first sip.
Origin: from Ehrenfeld craftsmanship to souvenir format
The gin is produced by Cologne Spirits GmbH in Cologne, founded in 2017 by Abbass Khatami. He previously worked for beverage brands with his advertising agency, so he knew the industry before launching his first own gin. The gin is handcrafted in Cologne-Ehrenfeld.
The 100 ml Minis were explicitly developed as a Cologne souvenir as well. They are meant from the very beginning as a small piece of the city for visitors to take home. For everyone else, they are an uncomplicated way to give a gift from Cologne: an envelope, a bottle, a greeting from the city on the Rhine.

The Mini is made for the curious who want to test the gin before buying the large bottle.
