NORK Gingerbread Egg Liqueur. Egg liqueur with gingerbread spices made from organic free-range eggs and organic vanilla, lactose-free, 16% ABV, 500 ml – from Bremen.
NORK Gingerbread Egg Liqueur is the winter edition of the NORK egg liqueur from Bremen: the same handmade egg liqueur made from organic free-range eggs from Demeter farms and organic vanilla, refined with gingerbread spices, 16% ABV, 500 ml. No cream, no thickeners, no gingerbread syrup – a creamy egg liqueur that tastes like holiday baking.
Gingerbread Egg Liqueur by NORK is an egg liqueur that brings the spices of Christmas baking into a bottle. The base is the classic NORK egg liqueur: egg yolk, sugar, alcohol, and real vanilla, made the old-fashioned way and lactose-free, as cream and milk are absent from the recipe. Added to this is the gingerbread blend – according to the product description, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, star anise, and orange, tuned for a long time until the ratio was just right. Imagine the first Advent Sunday: candles lit, the gingerbread cut, and in a small glass, a yellow liqueur that smells just like that spice rack.
Gingerbread spice upfront, backed by egg yolk and vanilla – creamy instead of thick
On the nose, it is gingerbread first: cinnamon, clove, a hint of star anise. On the palate, the egg yolk takes over, creamy and round, followed by the vanilla, which remains clearly detectable in the gingerbread egg liqueur as well. The spices layer over the top, warm and festive, and linger through to the long finish. The consistency is creamy and flowing; the 16% ABV alcohol remains restrained.
The sweetness is reserved, just like in the classic egg liqueur – NORK gives its liqueurs only as much sugar as the designation requires. Regarding labeling: The liqueur contains egg. Dairy products are missing from the recipe; it is lactose-free.
Enjoy neat with Advent coffee, over ice, over vanilla ice cream, or in hot cocoa
Neat in a small glass, at room temperature or slightly chilled, the gingerbread egg liqueur is the perfect sip for Advent coffee. Over ice, it becomes lighter. It is a liqueur with 16% ABV; sale is only permitted to persons 18 years and older.
Over desserts, it makes a difference: over vanilla ice cream, pudding, or baked apples, as a shot in hot cocoa or espresso, as suggested by the product description.
Store in a cool, dark place; once opened, the bottle belongs in the refrigerator. Shake before pouring in case the egg yolk has settled.
Our tip: 2 cl of gingerbread egg liqueur in a mug of hot cocoa, stir once – the spices dissolve in the warmth, and the cocoa tastes like gingerbread. The Advent drink for a Sunday afternoon, without a mulled wine pot.
Winter edition from Bremen – the same saved eggs, the same handiwork
The gingerbread egg liqueur is the seasonal version of the NORK egg liqueur, and it shares everything with it except for the spices. The eggs are organic free-range eggs from Demeter farms in Schleswig-Holstein, specifically: size XS eggs that are too small for retail. NORK buys them from the farms at fair prices, thus saving eggs that would otherwise be sorted out. The vanilla is real organic vanilla from Madagascar.
NORK is a Bremen brand; it was founded by siblings Ann-Katrin and Johann Dallmeyer in 2016 with a grain spirit (Doppelkorn). The liqueurs followed one by one, each with its own story behind the ingredients – with the egg liqueur, it is the saved eggs. The gingerbread egg liqueur adds to this story for the Advent season: according to the product description, long work went into the spice blend until cinnamon, clove, cardamom, star anise, and orange interacted in such a way that the liqueur tastes of gingerbread while still remaining an egg liqueur.
For Advent, the Christmas table, and everyone who drinks egg liqueur all year round
The gingerbread egg liqueur is the bottle for the Advent season. For coffee on Sunday, after Christmas dinner, in a Saint Nicholas stocking, or as a gift to take along for cookie baking. For egg liqueur fans, it is a change from the classic, and for gingerbread fans, it is the possibility to have the spice in a glass as well. The year-round original is the [classic] egg liqueur; the cinnamon-creamy alternative from the same house is the Franzbrötchen Liqueur; you can find all bottles on our NORK page, and further liqueurs in the Liqueurs category. The liqueur is not suitable for those with an egg allergy or for those living a vegan lifestyle. And anyone who prefers their egg liqueur neat and unspiced is better off sticking with the classic NORK egg liqueur – here, the gingerbread sets the tone.
