Eine Apfelfamilie aus Hochstadt

Die Geschichte der Familie Höhl beginnt laut eigener Zeitleiste 1779: In Hochstadt, heute ein Stadtteil von Maintal bei Frankfurt, kelterten die Vorfahren Wein aus den Äpfeln der Hochstädter Streuobstwiesen für die eigene Gaststätte. In den 1930er Jahren baute Urgroßvater Wilhelm Höhl dort eine für damalige Verhältnisse hochmoderne Kelterei, 1938 kam ein eigener Schaumwein hinzu. 1962 brachte der Großvater nach Lehrjahren in der Schweiz die Bio-Apfelessig-Marke „bio-ess" auf den Markt.

Von der Kelterei zu DR. HÖHL'S

2007 wurde die Kelterei samt ihrer Saft-, Apfelwein- und Essigmarken verkauft. Johanna Höhl führte POMP weiter, den „Herrschafts-Gespritzten" aus Sekt und Apfelwein, den sie im Jahr 2000 zur Goldenen Hochzeit ihrer Eltern wieder aufleben ließ. Mit ihren Kindern Johannes und Anna gründete sie die DR. HÖHL'S GmbH & Co. KG und kaufte BioEss zurück. 2017 kam der erste alkoholfreie POMP Bio-Aperitif, 2018 die Sorte Feinherb, 2021 die Piccolos.

BioEss Apfelessig naturtrüb und klar aus ganzen Streuobstäpfeln, REZEPTUR 1779 Apfelessig mit Honig, die POMP Bio-Aperitifs 0,0 Fruchtig und Feinherb in 0,75 l und als Piccolo sowie die POMP Klassik Cuvée mit 10 % vol. Die Familie pflegt und pflanzt bis heute Streuobstwiesen mit alten Sorten rund um Hochstadt. Wer DR. HÖHL'S nicht kennt, fängt mit dem naturtrüben BioEss an – für Salat und Suppe.
