Wajos Peche Rouge Vineyard Peach Cocktail. Wine and Red Vineyard Peach, 5.5 percent alcohol, 750 ml – the light, sweet summer drink for the patio and aperitif.
Wajos Peche Rouge Vineyard Peach Cocktail is a flavored wine-based cocktail with the taste of Red Vineyard Peach, 5.5 percent alcohol, 750 ml, from Wajos in Dohr on the Moselle. Not a sparkling wine, not a liqueur, and not a dry wine, but a ready-mixed, sweet and fruity drink that is ready to be chilled and poured – light, sparkling, and peachy. Contains sulfites. For ages 18 and up.
Peche Rouge Vineyard Peach Cocktail by Wajos is what comes out of the fridge on a Saturday evening on the patio when no one feels like making a cocktail. Open the bottle, put ice in the glass, pour, and you're done – no need for shakers, syrup, or debating recipes. At 5.5 percent, it is significantly lower in alcohol than wine, and it is sweet: a drink for people who find sparkling wine too dry and bitter aperitifs too harsh. The Red Vineyard Peach gives it its name and flavor – the small, red-fleshed fruit that is native to the Moselle.
Sweet, fruity, light – peach at the forefront, wine just as a base
In the glass, the cocktail is light and fruity, and it smells like ripe peach. On the tongue, you first get the sweetness, then the fruit, and only at the end is the wine recognizable as a slight acidity that keeps the drink fresh. To be honest: it contains 8 grams of sugar per 100 milliliters, making it a sweet drink rather than a dry one. In a flavored cocktail, the peach taste comes from aromas rather than fruit pieces, and like any wine, it contains sulfites. This cocktail is not suitable for those expecting a dry, bitter aperitif – in that case, a gin and tonic with our Summer Gin would be the better choice. Those who prefer to stay alcohol-free can find the same taste in our Peche Rouge Secco non-alcoholic.
Well-chilled neat, on ice, as an aperitif, and with dessert
Chill for at least two hours, then serve neat in a wine glass or over ice cubes in a large glass. A piece of fresh peach or a slice of lemon is all you need. As an aperitif before a barbecue, with an antipasti platter featuring ham and melon, at a picnic, or by the pool, it is a drink that even guests who usually stick to juice will enjoy. For dessert, it pairs well with peach sorbet, fruit salad, and strawberries with cream. If you want it fruitier, add a splash of liqueur – the sweetness can handle it. It is not suitable for hearty meals, steak, or cheese: the sweetness will clash with those dishes. Once opened, keep sealed in the refrigerator and consume within a few days.
Our tip: Peche Rouge over ice with a basil leaf and a few raspberries, served with our Péche Rouge Liqueur Chocolates – our perfect summer evening for two once the kids are in bed.
A cocktail from a winemaking family on the Moselle
At Wajos, wine is the beginning of everything. Walter Josef Oster, whose initials form the name, comes from a winemaking family in Ediger-Eller that has been producing wine on the Moselle for 15 generations. In the 1980s, he added a liqueur manufactory, which Peter Oster and Ulf Schwichtenberg later turned into the Wajos brand in Dohr near Cochem – with over 80 employees, their own laboratory, and stores all over Germany. A wine-based cocktail with vineyard peach is a home game for this company, not a departure from their roots.
The drink for summer evenings with guests and for anyone who likes things light
Peche Rouge is the bottle for the patio, balcony, and garden party. 750 milliliters are enough for six glasses, and at 5.5 percent, the evening stays relaxed. As a gift, it is perfect for people who prefer light drinks in the summer, especially when paired with the chocolates of the same variety. All spirits, liqueurs, and Secco varieties can be found on our Wajos page. This cocktail is not suitable for anyone under 18, for people who avoid alcohol, or for those who prefer a dry drink.
